Children’s Eco Workshop: Junk Musical Instruments Thursday 2 September, 2.30pm – 4.30pm As part of our summer family programme come and make colourful musical instruments from old junk such as bottles, juice cartons, tins, plastic bags, foil, elastic bands and rice. Then together let’s make some noise!

Children’s Eco Workshop: Junk Boxes, Baskets & Woven Mats Thursday 9 September 3.30pm – 4.30pm As part of our Family Hour programme come and get creative with newspaper, junk mail and wool, to make some useful containers to store all your treasures.

Swap It! Saturday 11 September, 10am – 1pm (2nd Saturday of every month, next one Sat 9 Oct) Bring along good quality unwanted goods: books, CDs, adult and children’s clothes and gardening equipment and swap them, for free, for something else!

Children’s Eco Workshop: Pirate Ships and Parrots Thursday 16 Sept, 3.30pm – 4.30pm As part of our Family Hour programme come and make a pirate ship to sail the seven seas, a patch for your eye and a parrot to perch on your shoulder! Shiver me timbers… There’s a storm a brewing. Make him walk the plank!

Eco-Friendly Toiletries Workshop Thursday 16 September, 6.30pm – 7.30pm. Booking Essential Back by popular demand! Learn what make your own eco-friendly toothpaste and more from natural ingredients. £2.50 donation per person to cover materials. Bring 2 jam jars to take home what you have made.

Children’s Eco Workshop: Kite Making Thursday 23 September, 3.30pm – 4.30pm

As part of our Family Hour programme come and make kites and then fly them in Victoria Common!

NEW! The Big Tidy Up Victoria Common Sunday 26 Sept, 11am. Meet at Northfield Ecocentre. Help us to tidy up Victoria Common and make it an even more enjoyable place for local people to use. This is the first park activity run by the new Friends of Victoria Common group in Northfield. Families Welcome. Part of The Big Tidy Up

Children’s Eco Workshop: Autumn Leaf Printing Thursday 30 September, 3.30pm – 4.30pm

As part of our Family Hour programme come and collect leaves in Victoria Common and bring them back to make a beautiful seasonal collage

Nappuchino Real Nappy Event Thursday 14 October, 2.30pm – 4.30pm Discover a Greener, Cheaper and more practical solution to bringing up very young children! At this event parents will be introduced to real, washable and re-usable nappies. Run by the Birmingham City Council Real Nappy Library. Visit the Real Nappies page on

Children’s Eco Workshop: Bird Feeders & Stone Creatures Tuesday 26 October, 1pm – 3pm Come and collect autumn leaves, stones and twigs in Victoria Common and use them to make a bird feeder to help the birds over the winter months, create your own painted stone creatures and more. This workshop will be run by Flying Start.
