A couple of things happening in the Birmingham area you may be interested in….

Earth First

First Saturday of Each Month, 10am to 1pm, Sparkhill Park, Stratford Road.
Objectives – To attempt to develop public awareness of the natural environment. To highlight the value, on various levels, of environmental engagement and stewardship. To demonstrate and promote simple changes, ordinary members of the public can make.
Aims – The above objectives are to be achieved through, demonstrations of organic food growing and composting and displays and uses of various plants e.g. medicinal plants. Arts, crafts and activities for adults and children using natural materials. Displays and discussions, advice and signposting. Litter clearing. Guided nature and heritage walks and cycle rides.

Earth Works

Saturdays and Sundays 8am-2pm, Springfield Allotments, Springfield Road, Sparkhill/Moseley.
Objectives – To facilitate connection and attachment of the general public to the natural environment. To provide more sustained and indepth advice, guidance, practice and support to individuals with thier attempts to become more environmentally engaged.
Aims – Structured short courses on organic food and medicinal plants growing. Workshops on storing and processing. Various activities and learning opportunities for both adults and children.
Volunteers to help deliver the objectives are always gratefully appreciated.

    you might find this of interest:

    Science is Great but God is Green

    Technology is presented as the solution to environmental problems but wasn’t it technology that got us into this mess in the first place? This won’t sit well with the people trying to sell us green gadgets but we may have to change more than just our light bulbs…
